NMC Convention - History

The Northern Magic Circle was formed in 1956 and in April 1957, held its first Easter Parade Convention in Newcastle upon Tyne. Such was the success of this Convention that the NMC has held a similar event every year since.

The Convention itself always used to take place over the Easter weekend but in recent years has been held instead on an adjacent weekend. As a result of the changing Easter Holiday, it is never on the same weekend two years running. Members and other magicians around the U.K. and abroad know when the Convention will take place and it has become known Internationally as the "friendliest" Magic Convention to attend in Britain.

The current Council work hard over the year to maintain the high standards set by their predecessors and hope to attract a wide variety of ages and experience to the weekend events.
