Convention 2014

17 May 2014 - 18 May 2014
Harrogate Theatre, North Yorks.

This year's convention is set to be a great one indeed!! We are of course returning to Harrogate, something that people have been asking for for a while. It has been looked at many times but this year we have managed to secure the Harrogate Theatre. The venue is fantastic - it is situated right in the middle of Harrogate town centre just metres from the fantastic shops and eateries.

Here are some of the star acts and lectures that you will see at this years Convention :

John ArcherIf you know John Archer then you’ll probably recognise him as a Stand-up Comedy Magician with a penchant for the visual pun, and full-on audience combat with a mentalist slant. But he is also an accomplished close-up performer in the corporate field and does a fair share of comedy writing for TV. A comedy magician who attacks the audience with all the skill and panache of a rampant bull and then takes them on a roller-coaster ride of idiotic sight gags and baffling trickery . He's won 'The Magic Circle Stage Magician of the Year', he was the first magician to fool Penn and Teller on the hit ITV series, he is a Member of The Inner Magic Circle with Gold Star and he is possibly the best magician in his house, but that's yet to be confirmed.

Noel QualterFor the last 9 years, Noel Qualter has been a full time professional close-up magician working at top hotels, bars and manor houses in and around London, providing table magic in between courses at banquets, weddings, gala dinners, award ceremonies, private parties and product launches. Noel has performed his snappy sleight of hand and Jedi mind reading tricks all over the UK and has been flown to Dubai, Paris, Monaco and Kuwait to perform for corporate clients. He has acted as a magic consultant for the feature film 'Twist' and also appeared in 'The Apprentice' on BBC TV.

AmethystDanny Hunt and Stephanie Clarke are Amethyst Escapologist and Illusionists. Amethyst are highly acclaimed as one of the countries most unique and impressive acts of the 21st century, touring the UK and overseas with their spectacular shows. They have performed in some of the world's most prestigious Venues and on some of the largest super liners around the world. Danny has also assisted on TV shows such as, BBC The Magicians, hit TV series Sherlock and BAFTA award winning Help! My Supply Teacher is Magic.

Appearances on Penn and Teller Fool us for ITV led to Theatre tours and Corporate work, cumulating in him producing his own full length magic and Illusion show at the Blackpool Pleasure Beach from May to November in 2012 & 2013; they are set to return there again this year.

James WentJames Went uses his astounding ability at both sleight of hand and mind reading to create a personalised experience that regularly blows the minds of his audiences. Impossibly authentic displays of direct mind reading combined with an uncanny command of playing cards, coins and other small props is a potent formula that will leave audiences questioning reality. As well as regular performances across the UK, James has also recently been busy working within the media. James stars in the BAFTA award winning TV series Help! My Supply Teacher Is Magic on CBBC, now in its third series, which saw classrooms amazed and astounded by truly unbelievable tricks filmed using hidden cameras for unsuspecting audiences. He was also featured heavily in ‘TV’s 50 Greatest Magic Tricks’ on FIVE and provides magic consultancy for TV and theatre shows. This is in addition to numerous DVD, radio and newspaper appearances.
